My gecko was with a male approx 3 weeks ago, she clearly has eggs in her stomach, looks very fat, dug up a bit 2 nights ago although did not attempt to lay, and now she kind of sleeps ALOT and wanders a bit, but I haven't noticed anymore digging, I'm worried but don't know if I should be, I posted on another forum yesterday and didn't get any responses im hoping someone here will put my mind at ease!

Also forgot to mention she dropped alot of weight from her tail when she was digging the other night

Check out my two threads "still digging" and "Checking w Bonnie's progress"
It took 3 striaght days of digging for Bonnie to finally lay!! Eggs today! And she lost a good 10grams. She has been drinking a tone of water tonight but no eating yet. I asked about her weight loss as well but haven't recieved any responses yet either..but I can maybe put your mind at easy that the eggs should be coming any time now!! Good Luck!!!

thank you, i did read your threads, the only thing different between your case and mine that has me worried is how calm and sleepy she is, and her tail dropped weight very quickly and i havent seen her eating since. here are some pictures i just took now

she is very bloated in the stomach area, and her tail may look plump but compared to normal it is very small. Also she doesn't panic when I try to pick her up, but she backs away as if she is not interested so I don't want to stress her by picking her up, but my other gecko has laid eggs before so I know what it looks like.

Shes sleepy cause she is starting to poop out!! When I came home today I picked her up and she was very sleepy. I put her in her warm hide and she has barely moved or opened her eyes...except for the two times she went to gulp down a junk load of water. and again back to sleeping flat out!!

I stll say don't panic yet!! I betcha she may lay tomm or over night! Is your lay box tall?? if so maybe help her back in or like I did pile lots o rocks aroudn it to help make a stair case per say for her to easily climb in! Give it time! I know its hard to be paitent...as you can tell by my post I was!! :) And my Bonnie like I said lost a lot of tail size...now its just time to get her eating VERY well to get that weight back.

also I have up'd my hot temps to 95-97 just for some extra heat while she is recovering from the lay. She is sucking it up legs all spralled out and backwards...snoozing!!!

Just to update you. Last night I left a bunch of mealies and waxworms in a small clear container near her hide entrance...they are GONE!!! She was very sleepy last night and only guzzled water..but low and behold she ate last night when all was quiet and when she finally got some rest!

So be patient!! and if needed leave some waxxies in a CLEAR container..petri dish is best but I made due with cutting the top off a Clear disposable drink cup. Pic Attached!

I know its hard this is my first breeding and I was a wreak...but seeing she ate last night makes me feel alot better! So try to be patient!!!! :) Also make sure you have calcium available in the tank at all times!:main_thumbsup:

She's still resting, was trying to climb up the glass of the tank all night last night so I thought she might lay but still no. Also I have meal worms in a dish at all times in the tank, and calcium and water as well, but I cant just put in treats like wax worms because 1 i cant get any until this weekend and 2 she is housed with another female who would steal them before she saw them lol

unfortunately both of my spare tanks are in another city and i wont be able to get them for 2 weeks, I'm pretty sure my other girl(Oryx) is ok though, she was kind of bugging Zeb, the pregnant one, the other day but ever since when Zeb starts wandering around Oryx gets out of the moist hide and stays right out of her way. Oryx has had eggs before and I feel like she knows whats going on so she leaves Zeb alone

It would be a good idea to take out the other girls, to allow the new mommy to lay in peace, without unnecessary stress.

you would be very surprised how simple things can stress your laying female out! I also realized the TV and lights were stressing Bonnie out so I watched TV in my bed room and kept the lights off and she also stopped wandering the tank and trying to climb the glass.

I suggest you really try to figure out a way to seperate you females and give your gravid female a stress free area to lay. I too thought that my two enjoyed being together but heeded the warnings from the peeps on here to seperate and I have noticed a big difference in both my geckos behavior!

Another HUGE reason why you should NOT have the two females housed together is your gravid female is probably getting beat out for food. If she were alone you could leave the waxy's and mealies in a clear dish for her without worrying that they will get eatten by your other Leo.

the big part of the dish I put a pic of is its clear allowing your leo to see the worms moving in the dish even when laying down...the more your leo can see the yummies moving the more you can stimulate her feeding response.

Let us know what you get eggs!

There is a big feeding dish that is always FULL of mealworms, and Zeb actually usually eats more than Oryx does, She knows where to find the food and her water, There is no competition for eating. The only thing that worried me is that Oryx is ALWAYS in the moist hide but like I said shes started giving Zeb her space, so I very highly doubt them being together is an issue

Good Luck! But just to warn you... If its your girls first clutch ever, the eggs MAY be no good. Its common though dont worry.... Candle them in a week to see if they are looking pink or yellow.... BUT always incubate unitl they are mouldy and smell.

Good Luck
