Confusion and controversy over "Blue Tegu"?

I was hoping someone could help me figure this out a bit more. Is the Blue Tegu a mutation of the Argentine Black and White (Tupinambis merianae), or an entirely different species altogether? If the latter is the case, is there an official binomial name? There seems to be conflicting ideas on this subject.

from what i've been able to find, there is no official classification and they are most likely T. merianae
