ok so because i had a couple things to ask i decided best to put them here in one post.

I have a juvi I THINK is male but not positive yet as I believe it to be between 3 and 4 months old and cannot quite tell. A week and a half ago I got a female that is either gravid or ovulating not sure which. SHe is in her own 20L tank and the juvi, Willow, is in another tank that sits next to hers. They cannot see eachother however because I placed something between the tanks so they did not see eachother and get all stressed out or whatever but Willow is acting so strange. His appetite has decreased to the point he has only eaten about 6 mealies in the past week and he usually eats 10 a day and to top it all off sleeps in his cool hide all the time. He weighs about 22 grams and he hasn't lost any weight as of yet but am concerned he may. Do any of you have any ideas why he may be doing this? He's always had a feroscious appetite. Temps on warm side for him is 89-91, cool side 75-80 depending on time of day. stools normal everything looks same nothing has changed in living except gettingher. Could it possibly smell her? idk what else it could be cause I do not think if it is female that its old enough to ovulate or anything at 22 grams and 3 or 4 months.

second ? is....my mealworms. They are mostly getting ready to change to pupae but some aren't big enough yet though they all seem inactive or mostly. I have two geckos in particular that like their food moving a LOT so inactive mealies are not attractive. I am trying to start a mealworm farm but still have some feeders. The substrate I have been using for them is oatmeal and cheerios. Is that good or should I just use oatmeal alone and what about brans flakes cereal? I blend the oatmeal and cheerios in a blender for them but am wondering if it gets too heavy or compacted so I try to move some around a little each day. I figured they were just ready to change over so bought more mealies last night that were smaller so not to worry about changing to pupae but they also have become sort of inactive. Even with carrots in there which I put fresh ones in every other day and take out any old stuff left. They move a little but not as much as I would like. and not enough for two of my geckos. I hate crickets but I get them for alternative occasionally just so they can actually hunt and have a variety. Am I doing something wrong with th e mealies farm? thats about it I guess.:main_huh:

i believe your male is smelling the female..ive seen juvie male leos going crazie over females!!!he might be hiding in his hide because he is expecting her to come in (i hope that makes sense) also about your mealworms, they eat the dry oatmeal, as a substate id use something light and lose so they can dig in and ley eggs or hide..i hope this helps!!

Thanks I will change the mealworm bedding to just oatmeal and if the juvie is a boy that would make sense. I am a little impatient to find out if its a boy or girl so that I might try to house two females together or try to but looks like might be a boy. Oh well I will be more patient. So will he come out of it or do I seperate them to dif rooms? Hate to do that as I enjoy them being in the livingroom with me.

no problem and no doubt, i mean if you have the juvie male next to the female and onlie something blocking them i honestlie believe he can sense her or smell or w.e so i would recommend seperating them by puttin em in different rooms for now, now this is important..once the female is out the room and u see the other leo starting act in his normal behavior then that MUST be the reason..hope everiething goes well..and saie hi to your leos for me!!

well Aries they say hi right back lol thanks for the info am going to try placing one in the other room and see if that helps. If he is male he is only a few months old so didn't think htat her being in a tank beside his would make a dif. Will let you know if thats the case and if not then maybe it could be something else. He still eats some just not nearly as much as he did and I know they cut down on eating at about 9 or 10 months at aprox adult size but he's no where near adult size. I miss his appetite :( He was always my best eater.
