I just went to check on my dubia colony. They are currently in a 10g long
glass terrarium.
Last night, I gave them a dish of Flukers cricket quencher, and 4 slices of
apple. I put their supplies at the left corner of the tank, and the egg flats
(about 8 X 8'', and stacked 3 high) are on the right.
I saw that in the night, they had literally rearranged everything!!
One of the egg flats had been moved over to the left, pieces of cricket quencher had been moved to the far right corner, and one of the apple
slices was ON TOP of the egg flat!! :main_lipsrsealed: about 10'' from where
I had put it last night, and at least 3'' above the floor.

Is this NORMAL roach behavior, or are my dubias trying to tell me something??!! :main_huh:

How did they carry and lift that slice of apple and put it way up there?

Lol. I heard a few people complaining about how roaches have redecorated their enclosures but nothing like this. My dubia enclosure is a critter creeper with a piece of egg flat food and veggies since they're all nymphs.

They make 10gallon longs!? what are the dimension?

Lol, mine tend to rearrange often as well. Every time I throw fresh food in there I have to search for the remains (if any) around their tub. They seem to be able to lift and move things much heavier than themselves - sort of like ants I guess.

Ooh, that is creepy. I know I would shudder if I heard them moving around in the night. Especially if they were right next to my bed. No thanks. Lol. How can you deal with that?

I keep my roaches down stairs in the basement and normally before I got down I flip the light on as I go down the steps. Last night I was in a hurry so I didn't bother with the light (the back of the basement has lights on 24/7). When I got to the bottom of the stairs I heard a noise coming from by the roach bin. I picked up a flashlight and snuck over to them and peeked through the screen on the side as I flipped the flashlight on real quick. Boy did I get a shock when I saw all the roaches scatter back under their egg crate and there was a roach sized, egg crate ladder going up the side of the bin!!! I KNEW they were hatching an escape plan!!!

Well, I used to keep my crix in my bedroom. I woke up because I saw scratching on the plastic bag/cage they were kept in. I looked at it and I saw two crix out of the cage and walking around.
