Crested abscess and dropped tail

Hello,
I took my guys to the vets as there was diarrhea and not much solid poo coming out of the geckos. My gecko Ginger dropped his tail which is pretty depressing to me,the vet assistants freaked out, but the vet said that if he hadn't his tail would have had to be removed anyway due to an abscess by his hemi bulge. He must have had some kind of impaction problem and this occurred. He is on antibiotics and is still with my other gecko Thirsty. I get worried that Thirsty could see the raw wound as lunch, but the vet says that they should be fine together just like they always are. I guess for the impaction problem prunes could be a solution. The vet doesn't see why not as they are good for the geckos. Yes, they are two males and I thank my lucky stars that they get along. Has anyone else experienced this w/ one of their geckos?
Thanks everyone and have a good day.

giving gecko medicine sucks for him and me

It is not easy to give my crested gecko medicine by mouth. He refuses to open his mouth for about 10minutes until i stick my thumbnail into his lips then he gets mad and bites hard enough to scratch up my nail.I have to do this twice a day and so far it's not going to well. I feel so sorry for him.
Has no one else experienced these kind of issues w/ their geckos?

Well for stress reasons, I would seperate them into their own smaller enclosues for now. Stress can really agravate a gecko, and a cranky gecko (even if it isnt feeling good) can attack another gecko. So for now I would look into getting them into either the largest kk, or get them into smaller storage tubs until healing is over.

Most reptiles dont enjoy meds, thats why you need to get creative. Are your geckos eating well? I often hide meds in the food itself, they dont notice the difference. Of you can try giving them to it as a treat in some pureed mango, mix the meds up in a tiny amount of mango puree (or the CGD) and then take it up in a syringe and syringe feed it to them.

Hello

Thanks for answering me. I am going to have to give him his meds in food. It is taking too long and it makes him and I miserable trying to get him to open his mouth. He steadfastly refuses. I got him to lick a little off of his lips today and that's it. Hopefully he will forget the forced medicine and let me give him some strawberries w/ meds. Poor guy was getting so miserable that his breathing was erratic and I was getting scared.
