I have had my crested gecko for a few months now and she hasn't shed once she looks like she is getting thinner and appears to be not eating now what can I do to get her to eat? She is a young crestie when I try to hand feed her she tries to bite I have read online to isolate her in a critter keeper and use paper towels as substrate and mist as usual so I did do that today I feed her crickets and small dubias and baby food this is what I have been told to feed her I also offer her cut up red wigglers is there anything else I can do to get her to eat or etc? Any help would be appreciated thanks!

stop feeding baby food feed crested gecko diet

Posting a statement like this appears IMHO to do little GOOD. If you are not supposed to feed a baby CGC, then what ARE you supposed to feed them?

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm suggesting that if someone doesn't agree with the commonly accepted standard, that they please provide an alternative situation. I'm having the same situation and I did a google search looking for a solution. You're saying that feeding the baby Crestie CGD should be stopped - they have to eat SOMETHING - what do you suggested they eat? Thank you. I myself am worried as my baby won't eat CGD - luckily I order some of the Pangea NEW 3.0 CGD that everyone is raving about, and it should arrive today. Believe me, I'll be RUSHING home to see if I can get my baby to eat it, or to at least lick it from my fingers. I came home to a grey, almost "coated looking" crested gecko baby yesterday and I was in shock. I can only hope that he is getting ready to shed - he's not "grey" today, however he is lethargic, and won't eat it from my finger. He's not even licking it readily from his snout. I've seen complaints posted that the CGD people purchase at the big name pet stores (wouldn't allow me to post the actual store name) is "bad" however mine has the Repashy name, has an expiration date of 2015, and smells tasty and fruity as ever! This baby wouldn't eat a cricket two days ago, I'll try again tonight - if he also refuses the "new and tastier" 3.0. Thanks - Jen

Dude, you need to read that again before you get all worked up. They said stop feeding baby food and to feed CGD.

Your gecko is stressed, and may not be eating as a result.
I agree - stop feeding baby food. Your gecko is not getting the nutrition it needs. Switch your gecko to CGD, and you can continue offering feeder insects if you'd like, although I prefer my geckos to be established on CGD before I introduce anything else to the diet.
Do you dust and gutload your insects? What supplements do you use?
Vitamin deficiencies can contribute to lack of shed and weight loss, and can be caused by improper diets and supplementation.

Unfortunately, when I was younger and had a crestie, I went this route because I believed what the pet store people told me. I fed it baby food, and it began acting like what the OP is describing, and obviously it died. Of course, they also failed to mention anything about heating or humidity requirements, so that was probably a factor too. But this thread is, like, five months old, so I'm sure the issue has resolved itself by now in one way or another.
