crested handling...?

I got my first crested from a breeder about two weeks ago. Absent mindedly, I forgot to ask how old it was in all the excitement. Its about 2.5 inches long including the tail. I read somewhere that it shouldn't be handled much until its about a month or so old? Well, how big should it be before I start handling it regularly? :main_huh:

I don't know how pertunate my advice will be (as I don't handle any of my geckos on a regular basis), but I'd suggest waiting until the animal is at least half-grown, before such profound intrusion. Even then, I'd limit handling to a few times a week--certainly not everyday. I would think yanking an animal out of its cage everyday would be fairly stressful (as they're certainly no bearded dragon), but that's just my opinion...

I only handle mine occasionally, when doing something major to the vivarium. I do whatever it is I need to do, and eventually end up with him on my hand. I never chase him or actually "hold" him, but let/encourage him to hop on my hand, then the other hand...etc.

He doesn't seem stressed with this kind of handling, and I get to take a few pics and really marvel at him close up. That's enough for me, and I think enough for him, too! :)
