How long will an exo terra 12x12x18" (30x30x45cm) terrarium last for a baby crestie???

cheers,
Ian.

I keep the small ones in critter keepers for quite awhile. They are slow growers. I'm not sure if it's best, but I've had multiple breeders tell me that it's better for them when they're little.

About what age would you personally move them up to somthing like that?

I kept mine in a 12X12X12 viv until they were about 15-20 grams then I moved them into a 10 gal tank converted to a cresty tank. All 4 that I kept this way ( one at a time in the small vivs) did fine.

I would keep a crestie in a Kritter Keeper first, like Kristi suggested.
It's so much easier to monitor their activity and to check their poop (to make sure they are eating).

I recently bought a sterilite container that is just as tall as it is wide, and I put him in that so he'd have more room to climb.

You just have to be careful with babies because babies can have difficulty keeping track of/finding their food.
As they get older, that doesn't apply to them as much, but as babies I wouldn't risk it.

Kristi,

Question, do you turn the KK up long ways or do you just leave it flat?

I'm not Kristi, but I'll toss my two cents out there as to what I do with my KKs for my crestie(s).
I leave them flat.
Turning them long ways would be awkward because lid sticks out so it wouldn't be stable on its side.

Thats what I would do but just wanted to see how others handle it. thanks can i ask how many you have?

I have one crestie right now, but I'm receiving 3 more on Tuesday and a gargoyle gecko, and all of them will be temporarily housed in KKs until they get adjusted to being in my home and are eating.
Then they're going to go into taller containers.:D

On the same vein as the OP, I'd like some opinions on whether a 12x12x18 exo-terra viv would work for a full-grown adult crestie, or if the 12x18x18 is the minimum.

I would prefer a 12x12x18 for the simpler sizing (i.e. easier to be placed somewhere) but I know that Exo-Terra recommends the size larger for cresties.

I intend on planting a natural viv with 50% open space, at least. Any of you use the Exo-Terra vivs? What are your thoughts, would a 12x12x18 be acceptable for one adult crestie provided I give 50% open space and 50% climbing space, or would it be detrimental to the crestie unless I provide wider spaces?

I'm getting a crestie in the near-ish future, which is why I ask. :) Thanks!

Sorry I'm just seeing this. I keep my critter keepers normal, not on the sides.

Thanks I was just wondering knowin that they're aboreal. I had to put a baby that I purchased about two weeks ago into one just to make sure that it was eating properly i was perviously in a 12x12x18 and I wasn't sure if it was eating by itself I would hand feed it every so often but just to be safe I wanted to monitor weither it was eating on its own. Thanks again.
