Alright, I just picked up some crickets. I asked for large and these things are HUGE. They are much bigger than the last time I got large crickets. The bodies of these guys are 1-1.25 inches plus the legs and antennas. Too big for a 31 gram leo, right?

They're a little big for my taste. I know they always say that you should only feed prey items that are no bigger than the gap between the reptiles eyes. I know many reptiles would be fine with larger prey, but hey, better safe than sorry. You can try finding some smaller ones and see how he/she does with one. If it looks like they having some issues getting them down, maybe rip them in half and tweezer feed them.

Yeah, I didn't like the sound of it, but I thought maybe you could find a few 3/4 inchers to try.

If the crickets are as large as you say they are, they probably wont live too much longer. I don't know what you can do with them...maybe munch on a few? I'd probably pass on that though, haha.

You know, I honestly think these things could munch on me. The wings of these are about the size of the crickets I wanted. I don't exactly want to kill them, but I would like to free up my Cricket Keeper..

Take them back to the store & get the right size. I brought back wax worms last night (OK they were in very rough shape), but the point is the store took them back without a hassle.

Petco was just arguing with me that my leo should not have a problem with these crickets. I tell them "she does" and they don't understand. They finally told me they would take them back as long as they are alive. Do they really think I would be returning dead crickets? Ahh!!

You would be surprised at what people try to return...

When I worked at one many years ago, a lady brought in a bag of dead ones to exchange. She had left them in her car. For a couple hours. In the middle of summer. But that was somehow caused by faulty crickets. Lol.

for whats i worth...

most leo's (except babies!) will eat any size...feed hoppers (approx 10...2 at a time) once a month here as a treat...well the gecko just walks over the top of the cricks to get them!...well balanced diet :main_yes:

Well, before I called them to ask about exchanging them, I attempted to feed her one. I found the smallest I could and she seemed to take it alright. I found one a little larger but still not the biggest and put it right in front of her. She attacked within 2 seconds and spend the next 35 seconds or so trying to get it down. She looked almost as if she was choking and kept rubbing her face and her neck against the ground. So I bring them in and the same girl AGAIN tries telling me she should be fine and that her smaller gecko eats them all the time. I told her I really didn't care all that mattered wsa mine had trouble. She finally gave me small ones.. I mean small...she gave me pinheads! I just looked at them, then her, and walked out. I guess I will be waiting for these little guys to grow up!
