My small cricket horde are being killed off by some flying bug thats laying eggs on the crickets and are being killed by the maggots and I can't seem to be rid of them.

Anyone got any idea what these bugs are and a way to get rid of them.

I raise crickets and for awhile had quite a few fruit flies in their enclosures. I don't think they would affect the crickets, but I had to kill them off by hand one at a time until they were gone. They would lay eggs in the soil where the crickets laid eggs. Every time I went into the crickets enclosure I would use a tissue and smash any flying adults I could see. It took several weeks but it finally worked. Also wipe out any maggots you find. Patience was key!
If there seem to be too many to do that, I would get rid of all you have, thoroughly disinfect and start over.

I don't think they're fruit flies. They're quite small and surprisingly make a loud crunch when you squish them, and super duper fast.

Right now I have the cricket's normal home soaking in bleach and letting it air out and the crickets are tucked away in my Leo's transport container.

STICKY [old type]flying pest strips..{farm store & some dollar stores}...hang them over the crickets area.
Many moisture foods fed will draw in the fruit flies and other pest-ier pests.
Take care. HJ
