Was curious if adding to the powdered calcium crushed egg shells would or might be benificial to the geckos diet. Would it be safe enough if crushed to tiny pieces yet not into quite powdered. I know they use it for birds and thought I would ask since I have read a lot saying that it's possibly easier to absorb then like calcium carbonate and such. Thanks,

Jamie

Also was gonna add the fact these would be what you can buy commercially. Not that I would bake them myself and use my own egg shells. ;) Just to be clear on that.

I tried making my own calcium but couldnt get it ground up into a fine powder, if the pieces are too big it wont stick to any feeders and i wouldnt keep it in the enclosure because if they eat it will most likely cause impaction.

Here is a good subsitute

Good for them to lick up inside the cage (kept in a gatorade cap) because it has no D3.

No. It would not be beneficial to a geckos diet. A leopard gecko is a terrestrial lizard. How would they possibly come in contact with bird eggs in a tree? How would their insectivore GI system deal with sharp, hard, jagged pieces of egg shells? This is potentially FATAL to your gecko.

Even if it was benefical the time and the effort isint worth it when you can buy quality calcium made by people that know what they are doing.

I think egg shells have high phosphorus ratio.
