I spent a good chunk of the summer working on a custom unit for my critters. I have 1.4.0 Leoparg geckos and 0.1.0 cresteds. I wanted to house them all in one nice looking unit rather than have all the tanks. This is the end result.

Each leo has a 23w x 18d x 14h, and the crestie is 23w X 18d X 36h.
All also are heated by a UTH.

Thanks! I put a4 months into planning and saving the money to build it. Then spent about that much time building it. But in the end, it was well worth it. Everyone has their own space and it is great to look at.

The entire unit is built from scratch. Wood, slate, mortar, and all. The UTH is actually stuck to the bottom of the slate. Then I cut out a hole the size of the UTH through the floor board. The cord is then run along the ceiling and out a hole in the cage below. Then it is all covered with slate, so you don't see any of it. Only down side is that if one of the UTHs dies, I have to remove the slate to replace it. But all were brand new, so I'm not too worried.

sweet thanks that helps me, I was having trouble figuring out how to do it but it makes sense just to cut a whole out of the wood!

Thanks! I had the hardest time figuring out the UTH thing. It was my husbands idea, and it works beautifully.

I posted a few pics here of my critters in the "Intro yourself" forum. They are all older pics, but will do until I upload new ones. Also very exciting!! I got my first clutch of eggs today from my Tremper and Jungle Tremper pairing.

I have a wooden book shelf enclosure, it was converted, and it's previous owner used lighting, but I use UTH, and the wood is quite thick on my shelves. The UTH don't get hot enough to even penetrate to the other side. Mine too are stuck to the substrate and the bottom end sits on top of the wood. No trouble yet but at first I was a bit worried.

I know we're not allowed to swear on these boards, but c'mon it's hard to express how awesome & amazing that is without the BIG ONE!!! I'm jealous...but my father is a carpenter...hmmm...ohhhh dad! can you help me make THIS?!?!?!?

Congratulations on making a true showpiece.
