Custom Inclose Tile Question

Hey guys, I have been lurking around these forums for a while now and have been inspired to build a custom inclosure for my gecko. I bought all the materials today but still have a few questions

1. I want to use some ceramic tile I have laying around as the substrate. I have an under the tank heater but it doesnt get TOO hot. will it still heat through the ceramic tile? (I don't use a light)
2. If I am using the tile do i just lay it flat against the glass or do i need to put some sand or walnut shells underneath it?
3. If I use great stuff crack filler against the walls and let it cure properly (with some carboard underneath it to support until it cures) will it support the weight of a gecko?

Thanks guys, I'm gonna start building as soon as I get some answers so let me know!

I'll take some pictures of the finished project. I just bought a new tank so I really hope i don't mess this up!

I have slate tile, rather than ceramics, over about 1/8" of sand and it transfers heat fine. I do see more spread out hot spot and had to tweak the amount of sand to keep it warm enough.

As for the great stuff, I haven't used it personally, but from the number of other posters that have used it for various aspects of their enclosures I would think you'll be fine sealing with it.

Okay, another question... Where can I buy one of those corner hammocks I've been seeing a lot on here. The ones that suction cup to the glass?
