Dart Frogs

I finally got around to fixing up my dart frog tank. The plants had grown so much that it was very hard to see them in there! They might have liked the whole 3-D world effect, but they seem to like this, too! :) The viney plant still looks a bit rough after it's extreme haircut, but I'm sure it'll bounce back quickly!

No frogs in this shot, but I like my new air plants!

That's awesome! How many darts do you have? And what different species? I'm going to be setting up my first PDF vivarium very soon.

Thanks!! :)

Luis - I just have the two. The yellow one is D. tinctorius and the blue one is D. azureus. They are very fun to have - very active pretty much all day.

That's awesome. So are they in the same tank? I've been reading a lot about dart frogs and have read that mixing is bad. Do they fight? Are they both males?

Thanks- Luis

The breeder told me that they should be fine as long as they are similar in size. I got them as small juveniles and they have been eating and growing well - at the same rate. I've never seen any interaction between them. However, now that they are getting close to full size, I will certainly be watching even more closely.

Unfortunately, you can't sex juveniles, so getting more than one regardless of whether they are the same species, or a size-matched different species can lead to issues that may result in having to separating the frogs once they reach maturity.

Cool, thanks for the help. I'm getting close to starting my setup. I just want to do more reading for now.
