yeah they can be, but it can be a pain in the but. its just easier to use baby food mixed with calcium, and crickets or mealworms. thats what i use also. i dont have the smaller types, but my giants, and standings produce for me and grew up just fine. the t rex diet can be tricky to get them to eat it, thats all. i use it a little bit. my mix consists of baby food with a little bit of calcium, vitamens, trex diet, and once a week some minir-all.

will they eat mealworms out of a dish?? i only feed mealworms so I dont really want to start buying crickets,, If not then i guess a day gecko isn't for me

when i bought my piars they were "vergin" adults feeding on crickets and babie food (both pairs from 2 diff breeders). it was pretty easy to get them switched to mealworms. and im sure it has the same effect on the day geckos as the leos. cause my adults put on some real size after i started feeding them mealies.

oo sweet man thanks, I also have one more question that doesn't relate to feeding do they need live plants in thier enclosure?? its not a big deal but it would just be easier if i didn't need it,, also what plants would you recommend "baugh" on this forum recommends a snake plant so im just curious to what your opinion is

I work with quite a few different Phelsuma species (all under 6") and would have to say live plants are a neccesity. Just can't replicate the same type of cover with fake plants...

there ya go. go with what harold sais, and i did forget to mention, that even though giants and standings dont need them, i still have live plants. mainly snake plants, orchids, bamboo, and some other smaller ones.
