Decision to be made

Ok folks, I have been going over my final pairings for the year and wanted some opinions. The last female I have to decide who to pair with is a Super Snow Eclipse het Raptor..
My 2 options would be to either pair her with a Super Snow or a Sunglow het Raptor. Pairing her with the SS will give me more SSnows with hets of tremper and eclipse.
If I pair her with the Sunglow I will get:
25% Mack Snow Hypo (1 Copy) Eclipse Tremper Albino
25% Mack Snow Hypo (1 Copy) Eclipse het Tremper Albino
25% Mack Snow Hypo (1 Copy) Tremper Albino het Eclipse
25% Mack Snow Hypo (1 Copy) het Tremper Albino het Eclipse

So what do you guys think I should do?? Just curious to see what others think?
Im leaning towards the Sunglow for more diversity, but Im always open to suggestions lol

i would say sunglow as well. you could produce some mack raptors from that pairing, then breed back to your ss eclipse het raptor for a chance a super raptors.

1 copy variant is when your pairing contains only 1 dominant gene, 2 copy would be when each in the pairing has a dominant gene. so say you paired an enigma to a normal. the offspring would be a 1 copy variant if enigmas hatched. now if you paired enigma x enigma (which i highly do not recommend), your hatchlings would be a 2 copy variant.

You was close Shawn. Basically Enigma (1copy) x Enigma (1copy) will lead to a 25% normal, 50% Enigma (1copy) and 25% Enigma (2copy). Let think that you hatch an Enigma from that pair, then that Enigma have a 66% chance of being 1 copy and 33% chance of being 2 copy.

I will choose the Sunglow also.

As far as I know, no one has ever figured out whether a visual enigma is a 1-copy or a 2-copy. Last I'd heard, there was speculation that a 2-copy enigma would be lethal, and you would have a failure to hatch.

But, I have been away for a year. Has anyone figured this out? There's no visual way to distinguish this in enigmas, is there? Are the ones with worse syndrome 2-copy, while mostly non-symptomatic are 1-copy?

Sorry to detract from the thread, but I am genuinely curious what's been found out since I last heard...

Hi Janice. I have not heard about any visual difference between 1copy and 2copy enigmas. I talked to a well known breeder and he told me that he had breed 2 enigmas before without any issues with the babies. I think that at least one of those babies have to be a 2 copy but who knows the 25% is per egg not per breeding season.

I think it is generally per egg. The more eggs you have, the more likely it will look like 25%.

So, if you have 8 eggs, you might get only 2 with that result, or you might get 6, which looks like a skewed result, but in reality is a problem of small sample bias.

If you had 200 eggs, chances are closer that you would have a representative 40-50 or so that would reflect the 25% better. In theory. Life does what it wants to, sometimes...

The only way to tell a 2 copy Enigma is breed it to a non Enigma and have all hatch Enigmas. But you still have a slim chance of having a 1 copy Enigma produce all Enigmas, so it's basically impossible to tell a 1 copy from a 2 copy.

I am also going to start a Snowglow project. I have all the basic morphs but just have to line breed and cross to produce the product. Most people will just say to buy a Sunglow or a Snowglow and line breed it to perfection but I'm one of those guys who likes starting from scratch.

As for the OP, I would also go with Sunglow.
