Thanx. I Love the lil Guy, and yes he's a male. I also found a Sidewinder rattlesnake, and about 10 scorpions on my trip.

You are going to LOVE having that little banded! Remember, California lets us collect them, but not breed and sell them if they are Coleonyx variegatus variegatus, C. v. abbotti, and of course the C. v. switaki cannot be collected without a permit because they are a threatened sub-specie.
If it's a C. v. bogerti (along the AZ) border, it would be hard to tell because there is a natural intergrade. Arizona bandeds have 8 or more pre-anal pores, while California bandeds have 7 or less. Also, the C. v. variegatus from California usually do not have a pronounced nuchal ring like the C. v. bogerti do.

He looks like a California dude, non Switak's, C.v. variegatus. Looks like the ones around my sister's place at 29 Palms.

From all the hours of research Ive done on him he is Coleonyx variegatus variegatus, and a Male. I used to catch and release these guys a lot when I was younger, I grew out of reptiles, and just this year got back into it. I absolutely LOOOOOVE reptiles, wish I could work with them for a living.....Maybe sometime I will start collecting rare Geckos....for now I have 12, and a EGG wich I dont think is gunna make it. Last Night I built a pretty decent incubator, and I think the temps stabilized at 83' I was shooting for 82.....will adjust and monitor it. I have 2 females that appear Gravid. A few snakes....11 to be exact, and 2 Uromastyx's.

its a verry pretty gecko, I love bandies I have a whole lot of them. Although it looks like a female from the picture you gave it dosent look like it has the spurs at the base of its tail. Just my opinion though maybe I just cant see them in the picture. But a verry adorable gecko indeed.
