so, i decided in 2008 to breed DBs. simple enough! i ordered the whitest BB het raptor male from Tremper and a nice sized tremper albino female het blizz and raptor from Sykes. I named them Dallas and Debbie respectively and knew i'd be pumping out the red-eyed white beauties in no time, maybe even that season!!!!

here's the happy couple in their new home back in may 2008

while debbie and dallas did get along just fine, they did not seem even remotely interested in mating with each other. i figured, ok, new animals in a new setting, i'll give them until next season. well, 2009 saw no eggs from debbie. 2010 i was in the middle of a divorce and didn't breed much of anything, though i did pair Dallas with a raptor het female and ended up with one possible het db. the main reason for the breeding was to prove fertility and so it was a success.

2011- still nothing to show for my investment. i put Dallas with Rose, my best raptor female from Sykes for a couple weeks.. then i put him back with Debbie. nothing...frustrated, i put my best raptor male with Debbie and they did battle a bit as evidenced by the fresh wounds, but i'm not sure i'll see any eggs from her this season.

meanwhile...Rose has been popping out clutch after clutch of the most lovely eggs. this morning the first one hatched and here's what popped out.

still waiting on the clutchmate.

anyway, my point is; you can buy the best genetics on the planet, have geckos that are perfect for your project... and get zip. there are no guarantees in breeding. here's hoping for DBs in 2012!!!

Debbie ovulating at all? Did you try the paper towel trick?

Did Debbie ever copulate or even show signs of interest in breeding with Dallas or the other male?

Well at least you know Dallas is fertile.

Maybe Debbie is a hot female, seems she doesnt want anything to do with men...

hot females are a myth.
debbie is very thick, it's difficult with thick females to detect ovulating ime.
i have not witnessed any actual matings.

i usually house pairs/groups and the animals seem to mate just fine. been doing it that way since the first breeding group i obtained in '84 with no issues. it just goes to show ya, you can't count chickens before they hatch.

Been there man, but I gave up and declared the pair as pets... :disappointed: Not a DB project, but an Enigma BBB one... It does really suck having an awesome pair that just won't breed... I like your optimism though... Better luck next year!
