I have a variety of choices to breed my Diablo Blancos with next season and I was wondering what all of you would like to see in the outcome of offspring from a Diablo Blanco leopard gecko? Are there any crosses you are particularly curious about or think would be cool to see?

DC crossing is a hard thing I would say. Problem is that you for example when pairing to a Patternless would have a het patty Blizzard Raptor.
I would pair DCs with DCs or with BB or Raptors. Cool would be an Enigma DC or so but that will take at least 2 Seasons I would say^^ But for sure a nice project. What do you plan to breed the DC to?

The SS enigma would be cool. I have a pair of DB, so I plan on breeding the female to the male and get straight DB's. But, I can breed the male to something else as well with other morphs of females.

I plan on experimenting with some patterns and was considering crossing a DB with the Emerine striped female Chloe that is on my avatar. Or, I just purchased some AWESOME bold stripes from Marcia (thank you Marcia!) that are coming after the holiday. I bought a pair. But, I want to breed the bold stripe pair together first to get some bold stripe babies. Maybe I can breed a bold stripe with a DB later in the season.

Thorsten, you are right. Most anything I cross would be a long term project - 2 years. That is why I thought I would get some opinions here as to what others might think would be a cool project to work with. Two years is a long time. There are a lot of possibilities and I'm really curious about these DB genes and what they will possibly produce.

Nice choice Michael on the SS Enigma. Other opinions?

Super Snow Blazzing Blizzard female would be cool to pair with the DB male. You would get Snow Blazzing Blizzard het Eclipse from this pairing. Probably you would not be able to determine with hatchling is Snow/Super Snow DB whe you would cross those babies to each other but Super Snow Diablo Blanco would be awesome for sure.

Well, considering that emeralds are not green when they are expressing the albino gene, a red eyed emerald would just look like a red eyed tangerine albino. And a blizzard/blazing/DB emerald would just be solid white. The first generation of the project might produce some nice offspring, but once those are bred togeather the albino and blizzard traits would just cover up the green.

A SSDB would be confusing because you would have to test breed every single red eyed white albino produced from the project to prove that they are expressing all of the traits in the homozygous state.

For your DB:
Why not just breed it to Raptor, APTOR, DB, BB, and/or tremper albinos? That would yeild the best and most results.

For your emerald:
An Enigma X emerald would be intresting. Who knows what the random pigmentation of the enigma will do to the green color? And a bell albino enigma emerald might have the albino eyes and the emerald color.

Okapi, love your emerald combination ideas.. There is a chance of something really different from them.
I cant really see any progression with the DB genes. The Blizzard genes cover any body influences other morphs would put to the mix, although enigma may be interesting as i havent seen a blizzard enigma. Has one been done? Does the gene still follow its usual form?
Also the DB eyes are already solid Red from RAPTOR genes so where to go with them?
I think the best thing to do with DB's is breeed them to really nice RAPTOR examles and improve the standard. Something that is normally overlooked in favour of creating new morphs, like with the RAPTOR's and Mack snow's until recently (maybe because of the price decrease and availability?).

Although it would be a good longterm project to put a non albino DB to a RADAR (long term being breeding the albino out of the DB) producing a Bell DB.
Would look VERY striking with the RADAR eyes, though a Bell BB could do with being on the scene first.

Just my thoughts

Thank you, that is really all that I can think of that can be done with emeralds, when regarding albinos.

And I agree with you on progress on DBs... Not much that can be visually added aside from the giant trait. Maybe enigma, but a Raptor enigma would have to be produced and proven first to show if there will be any difference with the eyes. There is one POSSIBLE enigma blizzard in existance, but it is still too young to be test bred. It looks like a pale enigma with reduced spots. I believe it was from an enigma possible het bliz X blazing blizzard breeding. So IMO, the only use for DBs would be to breed them to other DBs, or with tremper line geckos. DBs are carrying all of the raptor project genes, so breeding them to anything tremper albino would produce beautiful suprises. Just like with breeding raptor hets.

I find the possibilities that have been listed interesting... With the DB's, I think it's the unknown of possibilities that may turn out that interest me... it's like opening a package on christmas morning without peeking first. Nothing new may turn out or an unexpected pleasant surprise may be shown later on.

To me, they are beautiful geckos no matter what and if they are unique in their own way without anywhere to go, then where they are at is fine enough indeed :). Only time will tell one way or another. Genes can work in unexpected ways which is why we are all unique.

It's interesting to hear others thoughts about their possibilities or lack thereof. There is still so much unknown about this morph.
