Difference between babies and adults

While at the petstore the other day to pick up some crickets, I ran into a neighbor of mine and discovered she had purchased two baby leos at the same petstore. So upon talking to her about them, I discovered she really knew nothing about them except what the petstore employee discussed. (she has no computer/no internet). She invited me over to see and I found her setup to be an exact mimic of the petco's with calci-sand and everything. Plus she wasn't having her son practice getting them used to his hand.

She never knew they could be held, thought they were like a fishtank. So I went over all the basics with her, heat, light, hides, NO SAND, and showed her son how to start practicing to handle them... and actually they were already pretty friendly, by approaching my hand with only one of them screaming and lunging at me one time, but ultimately found himself in my hand. Now they've had these geckos for over a month and when I held them it was the first time.

So, since I've never had them this young, but always prefer a little older leos, is there anything apart from the basic stuff I need to tell her? Something specific to babies that perhaps I haven't had to worry about with older ones? And therefore don't know about?

Thanks :)

First off, I hope they had the Calci-Sand removed. Juveniles are much more prone to impaction than adults, and accidental ingestion and blockage could prove fatal quickly on such a delicate young creature.
Babies are also prone to stress more so than adults, which is why it is best to limit excessive handling until they are about 5-6 inches long.
Also, this is probably a time of growth for the lizards, and because of that, they will most likely increase their food intake. I'd highly recommend dusting the food with Calcium and Multivitamins (if they don't already do so) and putting a small accesible dish of calcium inside the tank. Leopards will lick at this when needed and it will greatly benefit them.
