I currently have my leopard gecko but im planning on getting a veiled chameleon to house in the same room. If I have a barrier to prevent them from seeing each other and they are awake at polar opposite times would they have any stress from this plan? Could they smell another lizard or anything like that?

Nope, they'll be totally fine. They will probably never realize the other is on the other side of the barrier, chameleons have a pretty poor sense of smell and the gecko probably won't notice either. Just make sure that the humidity in the gecko's enclosure doesn't spike too high, since there will be a lot of misting going on on the chameleon's side. If it does you may have to move the gecko a little farther away.
