hi everyone,
so I have had my gecko for a few weeks now and I have primarily fed by hand because lack of a container the worms cannot get out of. Now I have acquired such a container and he wont even look at it. If i just leave it in there with fresh worms will peanut eventually find them or is he just going to ignore it until i hand feed him?

I know what you mean. I have had my gecko for a little over a year and I have always hand fed him. I tried to put mealworms in a bowl but he doesn't notice them in there... so I too have the same issue you do.
I'm sorry I didn't answer the question but I wanted to say that you aren't the only one who is having that problem. But I think if you left them in a bowl in his cage then he would eventually find them.

Yea, this is true, he will find them eventually. Mine are now trained and whenever I do anything in their tubs as soon as they get pushed back in the rack they check the bowl. When they don't get fed I get dirty looks :)

Try the hand feeding, but insted of dropping the worms into an area he can easily get to them, drop them into the bowl insted. Maybe let him go hungry for a couple few days then try this technique. After a few successful times of him getting the worm you drop out of the dish give him half his feeding this way and put the rest in the dish. After a couple weeks try putting the worms directly into the dish with out hand feeding him any. Make sure you keep a little piece of carrot or apple in the dish with the mealies so that they move about and draw his attention better. Usually when they get hungry enough, they'll look for food.

Sometimes they'll eat out of a dish sometimes you're stuck hand feeding them forever which really isn't THAT bad unless you have like 40 leos.
