Diggin' to China!

Well, even though I have three gravid females, one being close to laying, one of my males, Hank, is still the one that digs most lol. This guy just loves to try digging to China in his humid hide. If it weren't for the fact that I'm positive that Hank's a male, I would've thought that he was a female about ready to lay.
Anyone else have male geckos like this? (Or even non-gravid females?)

All of mine will dig even when the females are not gravid, and for this reason I like offering them a thick layer of substrate to dig into. I keep my geckos at home on a 2" thick layer of sani chips, and they all dig and rearrange their substrate as their little hearts desire. They do still dig to a certain extent in their humid hide(s), but not as much when they have plenty of substrate in the rest of the cage to dig in.

Well, I have ceramic tile on sand in the cage now (did have paper towels, but one of the females ignored the laybox to dig in and tore up the paper towels every single time...got on my nerves lol). There's about 1" of sand showing around the tile and they dig in that, but I also provide a humid hide/laybox with 3" deep EcoEarth. Hank LOVES both options. The female that would tear up the paper towels has now started to dig in the sand a bit.

I use paper towels as a substrate, but i lay more that one sheet, i go for 5 to 10 sheets, this way the substrate becomes thick.

Both my males dig into them and tear them up, especially in front of the entrance to the shelter
