Digging question

Aside from a desire to worry me into my grave, why would my crestie suddenly start digging in this box of Eco Earth that I have in her cage? I added the Eco Earth to help maintain humidity and so that she'd have a laying box when I got around to breeding her. However, I've never found a mate or introduced her to a male. Is she just nesting for the fun of it? Does she have unfertilzed eggs that she's going to lay? Should I be concerned about this behavior?

Aside from this digging, she's not doing anything unusual. She's eating about the same as she always has. She's defecating about the same as she always has. She's about as active as she usually is although she was very active last night for some reason.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

I have a few female who have dropped dud eggs on me w/ out ever having been with a male. Its very common so don't worry about it. Just make sure she is getting a good amount of calcium intake and keep an eye on her. Good luck!

I checked her calcium sacks a few weeks ago, and they looked good. I'm glad to hear that this behavior is nothing unusual or threatening.

She laid a couple of eggs about a week ago. I left for a trip to see my family immediately after she lay, so I haven't had a chance to do anything with them or say anything about them. Is there any point in keeping them? She's never been with a male.

Thanks,

Bill

I bought her on September 15, 2006. At that time, I didn't have a scale that would weigh anything that small, but in mid-October, she was 16 grams. She would have been severely underage to have bred at that time.
