My geckos wont eat out of there dishes. What can i do? They will eat if put the worms in front of them. They wont eat out of the dishes.Im looking for some kind of clear dishes and try that. Does anyone know where I could get some or what I could use? I use the ceramic dishes about an 1 to 1 1/2 inches tall. I think they would eat out of them if they could see the worms moving around. Any help would be great.

I have the same problems with mine, I use small clear plastic lids off of cupcake paper containers they are pretty low the worms climb out but I never leave them in longer than hour.

Sometimes it's hard to train them to eat from bowls, I haven't had luck doing it yet but with a couple.

One of the geckos that I purchased wasn't eating out of his bowl and the breeder suggested that I try a clear dish so that he could see the worms. Although I enjoyed sitting in front of the tank and feeding him worm by worm, I figured it was in his best interest that he be able to feed himself, as well. I had also read on here that some people use petri dishes. eBay has them. It took me a bit of searching ("glass petri") and measuring to find a set that wasn't huge in diameter, and that wasn't obnoxiously expensive, but I found some. They have plastic petri dishes available, as well.

I know they sell vibrating reptile dish to help direct the gecko to the food. :)

I keep one of those brown "escape proof" plastic bowls in Hidey's cage. I admit I've never seen her eat out of the dish, sit in it a few times, but the mealies do disappear. They aren't hiding in the cage anywhere either.

I've also been dropping the mealies in for her from the dish. My thought is that if she sees me dumping them from the brown dish eventually it might sink in that it's "the restaurant". Yes, so far we only have 1 leo, so she's treated like a queen :)

we use really small teracatta dishes that are made to be the bottoms of plants so the water doesn't run out.. I've never had a problem with them finding their food. I have seen a lot of people use the Petri Dishes from ebay though..

When you put the dish back in next time I would plop your Leo's front feet in the dish so they can see what it is.. Leo's can taste and smell the air very well and I'm sure you've noticed mealies have a scent.. so they should be able to find them...
