I was just curious as to how all of you "DIYers" set up your incubators. I finished making one recently and it is the most accurate incubator I have ever had.
I used a full size (free!) fridge/top freezer to make two seperate incubation zones. Used 4ft. of 10 inch heat tape in the bottom and 3ft in the top. I layed the heat tape to where it spans over the full bottom and partially up both sides. It's a pretty basic fridge/freezer design, but this time I'm using the Vivarium Electronics VE-300x2 and it is holding the temps in both zones great! It's a pretty good deal if you are wanting a proportional thermostat to heat two zones. Total cost for everything was about $225, but was well worth it for essentially 2 very accurate and rather large incubators :)
Temps in zone 1 (freezer) stay between 88.7-89.3
Temps in zone 2 (fridge) stay at 80.8-81.3
Do not plan on ever buying another incubator :main_cool3:
