Hi all

Title says it all, do they have different temperaments? We had a Murphy Patternless that was extremely easy to handle, and very docile, but she died last year. and we are looking at getting another soon. Possible Super Hypo Tangerine or something on those lines. My kids really like the carrot tails. Any feedback would be great and suggestions too please.

Thanks

It's not so much that one morph will have a different temperament, each gecko is going to have their own little personality. I've had some that wanted nothing more than to cuddle and cling to me for hours on end out of their tanks, and others who wanted nothing to do with me unless food was involved. Think of it like you would a puppy, you have to spend time with them and watch their personalities and little quirks grow as they do ^-^ just housebreaking them is so much easier.

I read quite a bit about the morphs when I was doing research before deciding on whether reptile as pet was a good choice for me. There are a couple things about certain morphs that may have an effect on their behaviour:

1. Enigma morph. From what I gather most common in pure enigma bloodline, and less common in enigma cross something else also, is a notable cognitive problem where some enigmas display unusual behaviour. Head shaking, circling etc.
2. Light sensitivity in albino morphs. I assume you just have to be a bit more conscientious about your lighting, both inside and outside of the viv, when keeping an albino morph.

I know some Enigmas exhibits symptoms, mine does not and he is the friendliest and most curious of the 6 leos I have. Loves to be out, seems to enjoy being held. The important thing with Enigmas is to buy from a very reputable breeder who has experience with them.

Imo Giants are the most docile while blizzards are the most evil

Stager you just haven't met my sweet little boy :)

----------------
They are each different. I've got six Tremper albinos (5 are raptors), 1 blizzard, and 1 ???Normal or mack??

Each has his/her own temperament.

My blizzard is "man's best friend" and I can't explain how friendly he is.
Our ??normal?? is Hannibal Lector...just wants to eat you alive.
My Trempers are a wide-spectrum of attitudes: from friendly to bitter (but not necessarily "biter" like our ??normal??)...

-----------------------------------

Just remember your former Leo...they are generally meant to be "seen & not touched". If you get one that will be relaxed around you, that is just a bonus. :D If you get one that wants to come out when they see you, then you hit the lottery!! :)

My geckos' personalities run the full spectrum, from "I'm going to eat your SOUL!" evil to puppy-dog tame, and everywhere in between. I haven't seen much consistency in personality between the different morphs.

My Bells are all light sensitive, most particularly the Super Radar who may as well be another Gollum, she acts like the light will make her turn into a little pile of gecko dust.
