Do family members mate?

Im not trying to be gross here or anything, but I really want to know if there is any danger with "relatives" of geckos mating together.
For example. I buy some nice leos from a breeder, then down the road I buy some more but they just happen to be from the same father or mother, or maybe even skipped a generation. Is this putting the babies in danger of mutations if they end up mating at some point?

Yes family members can mate. If you keep doing it though the bloodline gets thinner. So there is more deformities. But thats when you do it for a while.

I hope that helps :)

Yep! That's how people get their morphs to express really well. Breed the best offspring back to parents or each other....

If you do this large scale and for awhile, that's how some new morphs can come about....this is how I think of it: It's like a scanner that when you scan an image over and over, the image will eventually get blurred in some spots...that's what happens to the genes, they mutate, and new mutations come about.

Yes exactly what Matt or Mallorie said. It was probably Mallorie though. HaHa. The only thing I don't know is if you can breed a male offspring back to the mother. But I have heard of daughter to dad and then sibling to sibling.
