So two weeks ago I got a new leopard gecko. By the 2nd day of me having him he ate two wax worms and 6 meal worms. That whole week from Sunday till Sunday he was eating 5-7 meal worms. I weighed him on Thursday. He was 22 g. This week he has eaten only 2-3 meal worms. I was a little worried so I weighed him. He is 23 g. So I'm not that worried anymore. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Its so strange to me lol.

He is eating 2 to 3 mealworms a day right now? I've read posts where people claim their geckos slow down in the winter, but that has never been my experience.

Both of my leo's as babies/juveniles were/are ravenous feeders. The juvie I have now is 30 grams as of yesterday and eats a dozen mealworms a day. That's all I give him. If I put more than a dozen in there he might eat more....I've never tried.

I guess unless he begins to lose weight I wouldn't worry. Or completely stops eating. Any other changes?

He goes into his moist hide a lot. Perhaps he is going to shed? How long is the shedding process usually ? He had been slowing down since Sunday and didn't eat anything yesterday.

How much do leopard geckos normally eat during the winter? It is very weird because I was holding him today and he was healthy and active and warm

So, today was the official weighting day of all my reptiles. Everyone did good except my leopard gecko who lost a gram. How much would you think is bad for them to lose?

I also wonder about the area you live in. I mean we all keep them in our homes which doesn't get cold in the winter. I think it might be one of those atmosphere things that tells them. I live in Florida. We have stayed in 80s so far. I haven't seen any change in mine.

My geckos seem to eat less like the day or two before they shed, and definitely have little appetite immediately after shedding for a few days.
