So far I've had 3 geckos total, all of which seemed totally mute. I know tokays have this rather cute sound, but are leopards really supposed to be that... Quiet?

Ha ha ha! You've never tried to pick up a hatchling then have you?

For the most part leos are very quiet. However, get one riled up at you, especially a young one, and they make the funniest noises!

I'm assuming in their natural habitat they would use other ways of communicating (pheromones, physical posturing) since they don't live in groups and sound might not carry well.... it's kinda a last resort when being attacked, I suppose....

No, I've never seen a hatchling, less an angry gecko. What do the 'funniest noises' sound like? Only one I've ever heard was a bit like rusty door, only cuter - and not a leopard :(

Hatchilngs sound like pressure cookers, it's a very loud hiss. It's kind of cute when they get pissed off, actually.

I've heard some noises from one of my geckos. She chirped several times once when I was picking her up, I guess it was some sort of "I'm in a bad mood today, leave me alone", because I left her in her tank and stopped chirping.

I've heard them making weird noises (somewhat similar to the hatchling hiss, but not so loud and long) when they get really annoyed (e.g: when force feeding).

Hehe, that sounds quite cute. I'll try force-feeding them some day :p

why would you force feed your leo jsut to see if you can make it make a noise? Babies do tend to scream and freak from time to time but tame down once they get used to being in the world and people messing with them.

Just because you think it's mean doesn't mean everyone else does, its a matter of opinion and taste and that varies form person to person.

Sorry for using part of your own post, but sometimes it's just the best way. :main_rolleyes:

Force feeding a gecko is not nearly the same as personal taste and opinions of the looks of something, GROW UP

Force feeding a gecko for any reason other than to save its life is sick. And to force feed it just to make it scream is just plain animal abuse.

You are kidding, aren't you? I wouldn't have force-fed my gecko if it hadn't been necessary, it's very stressful and annoying. I didn't mean to give anyone bad ideas.

I would consider that animal abuse, somewhat similar to give the gecko an injection that doesn't need, just for fun.

And breeding them to get mutants is just plain great. Indeed, grow up.

Not to mention the topic can be closed anyway.

Genetic mutations that arise from breeding are not ANIMAL ABUSE, force feeding a healthy leo to make it scream IS.

Not to mention Im sure you can find other sites to troll around on.

I honestly dont know why you guys are even paying attention to this guy... he obviously is responding to get us all riled up. seems as though 15 year olds need real things to do in life... maybe get a job? instead of trying to get pissed reactions out of ppl. School starts in a week so maybe he wont be bored anymore and he'll stop. Lets hope!

Yes, yes, not meaning to offend, but it's not much of observation. We argued with someone about it already.

Force-feeding is not only stressful its life threatening!!! Plus Genetic breeding is totally different then animal medicine. Most of these morphs popped up on their own for example the tangerine for coincidence we bred animals together just to help the species and look what happens we get beautiful geckos. What you are doing is plain child-ish. And Kyle your right smells like a super troll!

who died and gave you the power to tell EVERYONE to shut up? and if you noticed everyone did, you brought it back up, so maybe you should have taken your own advise before posting (shut it) and have just left it to die out.

I've got a better idea. I'm just going to lock this and then no one can post on this anymore and continue to drag this crap out.
