I was recently told by someone that the red heat lamp bulbs cause blindness in Leos. I run red lamps on the warm side of all three of my leo tanks otherwise the temps drop to 70-75 deg F. They all seem to enjoy basking in the light. Should I not be using these and if not what else can I use to keep temps up. They all have UTHs on warm side but exsp with winter their temps keeping dropping.

No, standard red bulbs do not cause blindness. There is evidence, however, that leopard geckos can see the light, so using red lights around the clock can be disruptive to the dark period required by nocturnal animals.

Another option for heating the air would be ceramic heat emitters, which only emit heat and no light.

Keep in mind that the air temperature can drop down to 65 F a night without causing problems. If the air temperature is getting above 85 F during the day with the lamps, it may be too warm for them. It's the floor surface temperature over the heat mat that needs to be around 90 F, not the air. :)
