Do they need a cool hide?

I've been watching some reputable breeders on YouTube and they have an adult in a 15 quart with a single moist/warm hide, water, and combo food/calcium dish. I always thought they needed a cool hide?

Breeders usually use plastic bins in a rack. Each bin IS a hide in itself because it's pretty dark. The moist hide Glad container is basically a hide within a hide.

VMSherp.com uses a round deli cup as the moist hide. The cup sits in a hole of a bigger rectangular hide. So it's a hide within a hide within a hide... LOL

Those ones in their pictures look like seed starter trays. Super ugly in my opinion. But for breeders, their hides don't need to look pretty.

Petco and Petsmart don't have a good selection for leopard geckos. Many hides there have 2 openings or just let in too much light in general.

I highly recommend the magnetic Exo Terra medium Reptile Den (some Petsmarts have this), medium or large Exo Terra Gecko Cave (can be used as moist hide), and Exo Terra Reptile Cave. All of these go beautifully together. You can check them out here. http://www.bigappleherp.com/REPTILE-SUPPLIES/Hiding-Places

But to answer your original question, you should have a cool hide even if your leo doesn't use it. I like giving mine a lot of options. My large Exo Terra tank only has 2 leos, but I have 6 hides and 2 hammocks. They keep moving around in different ones.
