Aww come on! You guys are no fun LOL! I suppose there is the risk of getting bit. I'll take my chances. As far as bacteria..hmm. A possibility. But I'm exposed to all kinds of disgusting bacteria that you can't even imagine every time I go to work (registered nurse). I'm more grossed out by letting my dogs lick me. In fact, I don't allow it. They roll in all kinds of stinky stuff in the yard, eat dead rotten worms, garbage, and cat poo if they gain access to it. And many people think nothing of letting their dogs lick them! Every time someone puts food in their mouth without washing their hands immediately before hand (come on..we all do it now and then without thinking), or kiss another person, they could be exposing themselves to something way more harmful than anything a gecko may be carrying. There was a study done once where grocery cart handles were cultured. Every possible human bodily fluid that exists was found on them. Clorox wipes anyone?

bacteria won't try to rip your lip off.
;)

Now thats funny!

I have actually been bit twice in the lip by Geek. Both times happened when I was placing him back into his house after giving him oral antibiotics. As I was placing him back into the cage, I had him in my hand too close to my face and he bit me in the lip. Twice in one week he got me - it hurt but nothing crazy - it was more of a "put me down dang nabbit" bite than anything.

I would probably bite the face of whomever it was that was forcing nasty antibiotics down my throat too.

I have felt the urge to give him smooches plenty of times. If not for the 2 bites I have already recieved, that other bite thread definetly solidified my resolve to resist the urge to smooch him.

I get where your coming from in any event ;)

Ok, here I am. I'm the one that got bitten on the lip. I still kiss my leos all the time. As long as you keep other males' scent on you to a minimum (especially if you held another male that just shed), the chance to get bit is lower than air traffic accident. Consider I had been keeping leos for almost 10 years, I had only been bitten by a whopping 3 times. And kissing a gecko has nothing to do with bites, its the other adult male's scent that will trigger a serious bite.

I usually just do Eskimo kisses. :D I used to kiss my birds since they liked to nuzzle up to my kiss, but since my gecko isn't as willing I feel it's easier not putting my lips in or around her face ahaha.
So I'm not going to vote lol.

When I was kissing one of my geckos I got bit so bad on my upper lip it bled for hours and there was a perfect 'U'-shaped red mark and eventual scab. I don't kiss them anymore.

Haha, Marcia, I conquered the fear after about 2 weeks. I wasn't even kissing Hardee when he decided to jump and bite me. He left a '-shape' on my upper lip and I had to wear a face mask for days...:p

After a lip bite and hang on for a few from a Sun Conure, I do the lean and blow kiss to any animal I have, except my dawgs lol! Oh yea, the Sun does kiss me now without the blood draw lol! Sh/e loves me now. The bite came from when I picked Her/him up!

I admit it, I kiss my geckos. But generally do it on the back and hold their head gently (mainly after seeing that bite pic!) Haven't been bitten yet. Any one that is a little iffy temperment-wise, I don't. Only certain ones.
