I'll be looking around to get my first gecko soon and I didn't know if it's better to get an adult or a younger gecko for the first time? I have a 20G long AND a 10G. If I got a younger gecko, should I use the 10G until it got bigger?

Adults are usally a little easier to take care of and have a smaller chance of developing a problem(sickness, infection, etc.). Raising a leo from a baby is alot better in my opinion though because you get to watch them grow.

I tried a baby as my first and decided I wanted one bigger in hopes to get one with a good temperament and to avoid potential health problems. Someone told me? that one about 5 to 6" long would be a good start. So I just called a breeder to see if they had one that size. It seemed to work out fine.

Then I ordered another and now have 2 basically the same size. I think after I get more experience under my belt I would get a young one. Right now I want to get mine to the 1 year stage before I add anymore.

The reason I did not get an adult was because I did not want one "set in it's ways". Yet that was just from being new, knowing squat and starting from scratch.

If you are good with animals I think what ever you decide....... there are enough people on here to help you out as they have me. Talking to a Breeder is a great help and most seem to accommodate your needs and wants.

Not exactly sure what age or Length is a juvenile? It seemed the middle of the road.

I like a well started baby to juvi size gecko because watching their pattern change as they grow is one of the best things for me.

starting from a baby I think is better. You get to know your leo better and they get to know you and your habits better. I have a female that I raised from a baby and she has learned my habits. every morning, she watches me put my boots on for work, every day for lunch, she's got er face in the corner or her tank watching the door, and every night she is on top of her log waiting for her food. getting adults is nice since they are melow, but really starting from a baby is my preference. plus they are cuter.

I like getting babies because I love watching them grow and develop colors and patterns.
