I live in "Tornado Alley" and it is storming again for the 3rd time in a week. So after what I have spent on Leo's this month, I will be designing an "Evacuation Plan Go-Kit" for my Leo's.

Do anyone else have something like this? I will be looking at toolboxes, tackleboxes, multi-storage containers, etc etc. It will have to have INDIVIDUAL containers....we don't want fighting or mating while we are all sitting in a storm shelter.

Interesting. It will be cool to see what you come up with!

Over here in So Cal we don't really have to worry about tornadoes much, but with all the earthquake activity lately it's had me thinking

"what WOULD I do if a disaster hit?"

We have quite a few animals here, all different types (snakes, mice, geckos, a tegu, beardies, etc.) Obviously you cant just throw them all in the nearest container and sit out the storm, like you so well stated.

Very interested in seeing where this thread goes..

Good question! At least with a tornado you can see it coming unless you are asleep. Earthquake: no warnings. We have on average 2 tornadoes a year here in Maine.

I think if I lived in tornado alley, I would buy small containers to fit in a bigger tub and use toys or what have you to practice putting my animals together in the tub in thier own containers. Time yourself you see how fast you can be at evacuating everyone.

I keep small carrying cages near my lizards for transport. I also have supplies for a disaster or evacuation (reptile heat packs, bottled water, canned dog food for my skink...). I habitually keep some of my roaches in a small staging container. Have to admit I would try to save the dubia colony in all but the most dire circumstances though.

I don't have to worry about tornadoes. In your case, I would definitely prep the containers with heat packs & towels for a quick exit. I agree with the suggestion above that you have a larger bin to carry all the small containers if you have many geckos.

I have either folded up butterfly cages or small reptile bags in a plastic tote for everyone, in case we need to evacuate due to a hurricane or something. The tote is large enough that it would accommodate all the cages/bags with an animal inside, some shipping heat packs, some cold packs, a spray bottle, a towel, etc.

If I'm in a situation where there is time to pack them up quickly but safely, I'm ready.
