Turtles can be very messy! You'll want to make sure you have a ton of room for them to grow but also you'll want a superb filtration system. Water changes will become your friend

It all depends on what kind of turtle you want.a 40 gal would be fine for an adult spotted turtle, or a couple muds or musks.a mixed species tank is always fun.but for a 40 gallon tank, you're going to want to stick to turtles that stay under 6" or so full grown.and the right canister filter makes ALL the difference.and an old wet/dry shopvac makes water changes worlds easier, too.work smarter, not harder.
