Does shedding cause lowered appetite?

I'm not sure our gecko is shedding, but we saw him in his moist hide for the first time and he *may* look a bit milky colored. Anyway, we put in 6 crickets, which usually he gobbles up, but he's only eaten 2 and others are walking right by him and he's ignoring them.

We're still pretty new to geckos and I want to be sure he's OK.

In some leos it does, in others it doesn't. I have a few that will turn down a meal, and I have others that eat regardless.

He hasn't shed yet, so hasn't eaten the shed, but he keeps going in his moist hide. Also it turns out he only ate one cricket. I removed what I thought was all of them, but another showed up. I'm going to take it out too as he doesn't seem interested in eating. I put some mealworms in instead in case he does get hungry.

Yes, shedding does cause some geckos to loose their appetite. Some geckos continue eating, but one of my geckos just never eats when he sheds. So its perfectly normal. Just wait until he sheds and see if he eats afterwards :)

We think he shed today or maybe last night. We didn't see it, but he's back to a brighter yellow color and according to my youngest, he has a fat belly. :) I presume that's the shed in there. Also he finally ate his mealworms this evening.
