Does tank position make a difference.

Well like Ive been saying in the last couple of threads I made my geckos arent very curious and dont like moving much I guess. Im trying to basically troubleshoot them to find out if there is anything wrong.Their daily routine consists of traveling between the moist hide and warm hide, about a 3 inch journey. Well I was wondering if there was sort of a correlation between them not moving around the tank and the tank position. See my tank is postioned on top of my dresser which is a good 4 feet off the ground in all direction, except on one where my bed is about two feet below it. Well I was wondering if they are maybe afraid of hights because its a straight drop all around the tank. Do you think if I were to put it closer to ground level they would feel safer and would move more freely. I dont really want to as I dontreally have any conveinent floorspace and I have cats. :main_thumbsdown: But if it something I need to do I could find away.

Leos don't move much to begin with. I've noticed that geckos that are housed near the ground tend to spend a lot of their energy 'wall-swimming' in an attempt to get out rather than exploring the cages their given. I think keeping them off the ground is best, especially if you've got cats.

I'm sorry but this thread made me laugh so hard.. Just the idea of the geckos happily scampering to the edge of their tank, only to be confronted with the horror of a jagged drop down a cliff! The look of horror and surprise on their face! A determination that the world is indeed flat and they have reached the edge of the map! The awful one where it reads "There be Monsters Here"! The immediate retreat into the nearest hide!

my tank is on the ground and my gecko spends his day sleeping in odd positions on various items, they really don't do much. since i gave his tank a makeover after replacing the UTH he's been moving around a lot more... maybe if you changed up the scenery it would spark some curiosity. lol... but don't expect much, these guys are fairly sedentary.
