Over the past few years I've lost a few geckos. :main_thumbsdown: When cleaning usually, I'll hear the phone ring and go get it with a few tubs out. Or I'll be cleaning and I'll finish cleaning one of the tubs set it a side, and grab another one. Do other breeders loose geckos? I feel like I loose gecko's to much. Usually sence my room is disorgainzed I'll find them in 5-7 days and they won't have lost any weight.

Do you other breeders loose gecko's?

The only gecko that I have lost in the past 4 years or so.. Was a hatchling that found a crack in a tub and squeezed out of there. The crack happened in our last move in December. Realized the gecko was gone the day after I fed/cleaned.. Found it later that day. I don't have geckos get out on me. I also use racks that have lids on each tub.. So it makes me verify with each tub that I open.. that it is also closed.

I was horrified when one of our geckos escaped and another was caught in the act, so I make sure everyone's accounted for at least two times a day, even though I don't think they could possibly get out anymore.

I had one little crazy hatchling 'escape' when I was cleaning (she wriggled out of my hand and jumped to the floor--the only time I'm glad the gecko room's carpeted!! ;)). She ran under my desk and behind the rack....had to have Shawn come in and help me get her out. I've never had any MIA, though.

I lost a gecko for 2 months one time. I went on vacation and my sister did a poor job at watching them and one got out. She was a little darker and skinnier but turned out fine.

i have a custom made cage for 3 of my geckos and it has holes drilled in the side. I thought the holes were small enough but one of the smaller ones(the holes are 1/2 in.) And the smallest one, after 2 or 3 months of not escaping found a way. I found her the next day only a foot or so away. I thought maybe i accidentally left the cage door open while holding another gecko but then she got out again. I found her the next day really close by again. After that i covere the holes and she hasnt gotten out since.

I have had 3 escapes so far. All 3 times they didn't move far and didn't even hide at all! The first time, I come home to find Gel sitting outside of its tank, the 2nd time he was walking on the ledge behind all the tanks. The 3rd time was my girl Gutlei, I woke up in the morning and she was gone; I freaked out but find her within 1 minute...she just sat under my desk waiting for me to put her back in place!

Two nights ago Floyd escaped! I had fallen asleep as I was really tired and had left one of the doors to his enclosure open a bit. When I woke, he was nowhere to be found. He's only a juvenile so he's pretty small and it took me over 2 hours to find him in the first place I had looked - Under a baseboard heater. I tore my apartment apart looking for him ... fridge, stove, couches, closets, entertainment unit etc etc etc.

I was sure he was gone for good as there are a lot of nooks and crannies to hide in .

Now my girlfriend's making fun of me saying that if I can't keep a gecko, how am I ever supposed to take care of a child!?

Anyway, Floyd's back in his home safe and warm and full of crickets and I'm still tired from spending the night searching for him.

Lost one once, I accidentally left a tub open a little bit.. She was missing for nearly three months. I only found her because she managed to climb up on to our kitchen countertop, and was about to get a drink from the sink. I still wonder how she managed to get up there, it would have been a 100% incline, no "easy way" at all! She was a little thin, but must have found something to eat. I think there were some loose crickets in our place at the time. If any geckos got out now, they may be out of luck though, as I do not like to use crickets anymore.

That is a crazy story Dan, kinda cute too how she was trying to drink from the faucet! :)

We actually just had an escapee tonight! Apparently one of our geckos got on top of one of their hides and crawled out through a little crack at the top of the bin. He could have only been out for an hour or so, and we did find him inside of the "rack", but outside of the bin.

So far in the year and half that we have had geckos, we have never lost one ( knock on wood, lol). I would absolutely die if we lost one of ours. I know I wouldn't be able to rest until it was found.
