Doesn't Like Her Shed Box

My little gecko doesn't like her shed box. I'll put her in it and she'll stay for about... 1 minute or 2 and then gets out and goes back into her Reptile Den (The one Exo-terra makes). I have moss in the bottom. Is there some other substrate in the bottom to use? I know she needs to shed because her skin has gotten lighter within the past couple of days. Her shed box is made out of plastic container. It's clear with a dark lid. Should I get one that she can't see through so it's like another type of enclosure? I've only had her a week so this is new to me.

Usually we can't get them out of the hide. Either it's too open and she doesn't like it, or she really isn't ready to shed and she doesn't want all the moisture. Moss is perfectly fine ;)

I'd either suggest waiting or trying a different hide.

I went in there to check on her and she saw me and ran to the front of the cage and i started moving from side to side and she was mimicking me and tilting her head like I was. She's such a quirky little thing. Haha :)

Mine rather stay in their moist hide than any other hide lol. I use moss in mine and I make sure to let it dry out and then wet it again and they seem to do fine. I also keep another hide with just dry moss in it (cause they seem to like the moss rather than just the open containers). All of mine are the see-through tupperware containers :) and they don't seem to mind. Has she shed yet?

I wouldn't worry. Not all will use a moist hide. Some of ours like to romp around in their water bowl. Of course those same ones hate getting soaks. It's like when dogs stick their head out the window, but don't like if you blow in their face.

Nope she hasn't shed yet. I'll keep my eye on her to see what she's up to in the next few days. I also let the moss dry completely before I spray it down again.

My leo was tub raised I got him at 7 mos old. I only had a hide withs shagnum moss and he would never use it. Now he'll walkin it and right back out. He had some bad sheds so I added the tupperware paper towel humid hide and have seen him in there several times. No more bad sheds :) If you don't think the carton is dark enough you can either try a darker carton, or cover the current one in duct tape to make it so less room light gets in there. Dispite the fact I don't see Eros in his moss hde much at all, I mist the moss hide daily once he starts ghosting up prepping for a shed.

its no big deal, if she knows its there, and she needs it then she'll use, but if she doesnt need it then there's no reason for her to use it, and so doesnt really matter.
