Doesn't seem to like me...

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to leos.

I've only had mine for a couple weeks maybe not even that long and he doesn't seem to like me very much.

He doesn't want to be held or anything.

And when i do pick him up, he jumps off my hand and runs away.

Anyone know why he does this?

It takes time for a new leo to get used to you. Depending on the gecko it could be a few days to many months.

Try letting the gecko come to you, just place your hand in the tank and try not startle it. Let the gecko come and investigate, and just keep working with it. Do not try grab your gecko, you will just scare it. To pick it up, slide your hand underneath it and lift without grabbing it.

Not every leo will tame down, but most will.

My new one is just starting to settle down, she's still super skidish but at least I can actually pick her up and hold her for a couple of minutes. I try to hold her at least once a day to get her used to me.

reptile's dont have feelings it does not like og dislike you ... it might get use to being handled but that take's time.

You should never let it jump of you hand ... it might hurt itself.. hold your hand close to the bottum og hold on to the leo so that it cannot jump .. maybe let it walk from one hand to the other.

I have a leo that I've had for almost a year now that will hiss the second it hears it's cage opening. I don't even bother trying to hold it because it's not that kind of gecko. Some just never adjust *cough-blizzards-cough* eeevil! lol
