Hey guys, the dollar per gallon sale is back at petco, and leopard gecko's are also 50% off. Also saw a girl pick up a baby leo by the tail :\
You should have just went up to that Girl and done some thing illegal  If i were there i think i would have snagged her hair and would have been like " ATLEAST THIS GROWS BACK ALL THE WAY " ( Pulls Her Hair Really Hard ;) )

Ugh it just pisses me off to find out how easy it is for some one to get there hands on some thing so adorable and precious and they treat it like its a piece of S#!T because they are too lazy or just dont care . There should be some sort of License or inspection company to check on the Pets health when its been sold off. If you ask me it would create lots of jobs and ensure that the animal stays in health. That inclues fish ;) And if they fail the inspection or the animal isnt doing well they take it away, And give it to some one who deserves it.

All Petco cares about is money, but I don't hate Petco or Petsmart. Sure the employees could be trained a bit better, but i'm pretty sure that training doesn't go into specifics on handling the animals, so they don't know any better. They should have someone that's more experienced help the people interested in reptiles though, so they actually get better info than grabbing it by the tail and having sand as a substrate.

If you are taking care of animals, you should know everything about their care, husbandry, etc. That is the responsibility you committed to and that the seller should commit to. Unfortunately, small creatures are considered "disposable pets," and idiots assume they have no feelings, feel pain/hunger, etc. I think those "caregivers" should be in a hospital, hurt, scared and dependent on someone for their life/care, and be treated like they treat these poor little ones!! I wish I could take all of them home! That's why I take in the unwanted babies. I want someone no one else wants so I can give them all the love and care they should have. Unfortunately, with pet stores it's all about the almight dollar. I even hear stupid people comment on why should you take a lizard to the vet. It's cheaper to let it die and buy a new one!! Hey, I think that's what should happen to you the next time you're sick. Instead of paying doctor/insurance/hospital bills, we'll let you die and just find someone to replace you! Sorry for getting on the soapbox, but mistreatment of small animals REALLY upsets me!

No way, I totally agree with that. There are just so many cases its hard to stop them all which is why Animals should be in the wild/Sanctuary where they happy instead of being viewed and tourtured in 5.5 Gallons in petstores. I support PETA and ASPCA, Though even PETA has bad records atleast they adress and advertise even though most of its about the money they are the only ones who speak up for Rats,Lizards,Monkeys and other animals that ASPCA and other companies normally dont talk about.

Yeah, that's what gets me about the ASPCA. Oh we care for all the unwanted, abused animals. Why do you only see dogs and cats. Everyone gives money to the cute little puppies and kitties. Well what about the reptiles, birds, fish and any other little creature?! I only give to those organizations that help the truly needy. I like the Carribean Conservation Corps as well. They protect the sea turtles and their nesting grounds. If I won the lottery, I would open a reptile sanctuary and make sure the entire staff knew everything about husbandry, etc. and were there because they loved the animals. Whenever I happen to see the lizards in pet stores, I want to take them home with me so they are loved and cared for. I think that the larger reptiles should be left in the wild where they belong. You know there is no way to provide the adequate conditions that they have in their native habitat. God meant them to be running around free and happy. Although I am happy and blessed to have my little ones!:)

And sadly the ones who win the lottery are always the selfish ones or greedy people who only think about improving there lives and not the lives of animals. If i win some day or earn money I will make change. Evantually there will be laws and then the change will come.

I agree with you guys, but it's impossible for there to be any laws against pet stores keeping them in inadequate enclosures, since they're giant companies. Best we can do is give tips to employees every now and then if we see that they're being treated badly.

Well i do hope that some one can convince them to change the way they treat there animals, Is it really that hard to be nice and spend a little extra and then just share what they do with the customers bringing in more people because they know care is better then Petco/PetOrama/Etc.? Simple change would allow them to make more money and make every one happy, And infact the living conditons arent always Petsmart's fault. Alot of the time the Petmills where they breed every thing instruct on what care they need ( Which in there cases are just enough to stay alive, Or die after they get sold ). Though petsmart is too blame for having bad employes and choosing to follow the Petmills advice which is known by ALL to be bad.

It's corporate that's not willing to spend the money, and the employees that don't get enough training/dont have a passion. I hate people who look up how to breed leopard gecko's, but don't bother looking at how you're supposed to take care of them.
