So Dot is getting her tail partially amputated on Monday. She has had a long term infection that is just not going away. The end of her tail is now dead and needs to be taken off. She has been off and on antibiotics since November. Here are before pics and I'll post afters when I get a chance. She also has a new symptom, she has a purple stripe over her back. Anyone know what it is?

Awwrrr, poor Dot! I'm glad you're having her looked after, she looks like a happy little gecko. The purple stripe on the back looks like a scrape of some kind (usually noticeable if the gecko has been in a scuffle during breeding season, etc).

Update: She is home from surgery. She is really crabby but looking OK. She has stitches on the end of her tail. The vet said everything went well and she woke up alright. I'm still pretty worried about her but she is in a good place now and we just have to let her heal up. I'll post pics when I can get them. I didn't want to stress her today with a photo shoot.

The stripe on her back almost looks like a scar. I'm glad the surgery went okay. I always worry with surgeries on animals that small...

Good to know she's doing fine after the surgery. One of my gecko had his whole tail amputated also, the vet also stitched up his wound. I think the tail will not grow back if it is stitched up.

You might need to watch her carefully as she might attempt to pull out the stitches.
