I am new to leo's and absolutely adore my guys. I was suppose to be getting 4 new leo's from my friends dad. Well by the time they got here it was just the 3. One died. I am pretty sure it was dehydrated and malnourished.
My friend (it was her dads geckos) came and picked up the healthier of the two females.:main_no: I really like her even though she was a normal. She weighed 42 grams and was about 8 inches. Not to bad off.
The female I was left with was 9 inches and 28 grams. She is super skinny and dehydrated. She gets what looks like head tremors. I have been syringe feeding her carnivore critical care and electrodize mixed with water. I give her probably total out of the day .4 of water/electrodize and .8 of carnivore care/jump start. She hates it but eventually after about 45 minutes per feeding she gets it down (.4 of critical care w/jump start and .2 water electrodize).
How much should I make sure she gets? I do not want to stress her or over feed her or asperate her.
One of my biggest concerns is her lack of wanting to move, hunt or feed off anything.
Last night I noticed her tail was curved and stiff. I did not mess with it at all but thought it was odd. Then this morning I found it had fallen off.:main_huh:
What would cause a tail to stiffen like that and fall off?
What can I do for her and what should I be doing? I have also been giving her a drop of liquid calcium every day.
HELP please because I really like her and her pink eyes.
Thanks
I am having trouble posting pics at the moment but will have them up in a few.

Here are her pictures. She is only 5 inches long now with no tail and lost a few grams due to her tail being gone. She is 2 years old. All advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I would recommend taking that gecko to a vet as soon as you can. From your description and her weight, it looks like she needs immediate medical attention.

I guess I should have mentioned she has an appointment Friday.
What can I do in the mean time? Any suggestions?

one time i opened a bin too fast and the tail got stiff. It was because it detatched but didnt come off. She was probably stressed and detatched it and pulled it off overnight

Keep her warm and with a bowl of mealworms. Best thing to do is just to leave her alone. I had it with a gecko (lost the tail out of the blue) and she didn't want to eat for several days. She's fine now, but don't stress an animal that is already stressed out to the max! Leave her alone and only dirsupt her when changing mealies of water. Good luck!!

Check your warm side temperatures. If it's too hot, it cause the tail to burn and shrivel up and fall off. You need around 90 degrees on the belly surface.

I would also recommend a visit to the vet for a fecal exam in case she has a parasitic infection.

Keep giving her a few drops of liquid calcium 2X daily, and if she is not eating I would recommend my slurry (sticky at the top of this forum) so she will get some nourishment and produce a stool for the vet to look at.

Good luck with this pretty gecko!

I'm happy to hear she will be visiting a vet. Keep us updated, and definitely get a fecal exam just in case. ;) Good luck with her!
