Dubia Roach Questions

1. If I were to order 100 medium-large nymph/adult roaches to start a roach colony to feed 1 adult leo, what size container should I buy?

2. How many months would it take with said roaches to have a sustainable breeding colony?

3. Should I buy extra roaches when I start out, to feed the gecko until I have a sustainable population?

Thanks for any help,

Oliver

If you are only using that to feed one leo then 100 should be fine. You don't need that big of a container either some type of small rubbermaid will do the trick. If you leave the roaches alone in a few months you should have an established colony of feeders. I wouldn't necessarily buy extra roaches just maybe a few extra females. As long as the temperature is right, its dark and they're left alone you will produce many roaches.

If you are going to order them online, then most of the breeders offer starter colonies with all the supplies to get going. (bin, screen, egg crate, food, water crystals, and some even offer roaches with the starter kits)

Thanks for the replies. I just setup my enclosure and I am expecting roaches for Tuesday. Hopefully by then my gecko will have learned to practice the fine art of eating again :)

Where do you order them online, cause none of our local exotic store's are carrying them?
