I am interested in breeding Dubia roaches to feed to my lizard but my parents are afraid they will infest my house. I have done some research and found that it is unlikely. if I do get them they will be kept in an unfinished basement in a plastic tote box is. I believe that there are many roaches that will infest houses. Does any won have any experience in Dubia breeding. Or any experience with them infesting a house or getting lose. Lastly I could you please give me some tips on keeping them from escaping.

You live in a state that gets pretty cold most of the year, so I think the risk of infestation is unlikely. The great thing about dubias is that they don't climb or fly, so as long as the tub is tall, smooth plastic or glass, and none of the egg crate is too close to the top you have no reason to worry (watch out for using glass tanks, however, as babies have been known to climb the silicone edges.)

To be extra safe, you can use a tub that has a water-seal or add a strip of rubber to the edges so the lid sits tight, make sure the tub has a lid that clamps closed, and then cut out a panel from the top and glue a fine metal mesh. This makes sure they get ventilation but that should the tub be knocked over for any reason (dogs, children, accidents, etc.) no one is getting out.
