Dubias

So I'm looking into getting different feeders for my gecko. The one thing that I'm trying to figure out is quantity to buy/how long they'll last for my one gecko.

I'm interested in getting some dubias, but a) I don't know how many I should get and b) How long however many I get will last with one gecko. I'm not interested in breeding them (I don't think...would it be a big ridiculous to breed having only one gecko?) so I don't want/need tons. Any suggestions?

For one leo.......it is a toss up either way to start a colony or not.

Dubias are a great food source for leos. You should get about 200 or so dubias ranging from sub-adult to nymphs.....that way, you can feed the sub-adults while letting the nymphs grow until a suitable size to feed your leo.

If it all works out, then you can always get more and start your own colony.

I have 9 leos and starting my colony has been the greatest thing. I have saved so much in feeder cost. No smell (as opposed to crickets) and very easy to keep/maintain. They pretty much breed themselves. Since I started my colony last summer......I have yet to purchase any feeders from my local pet shop. I have purchased some more budias to introduce additional bloodline......not that it matters........another theory for another thread.......

I have two containers, one I feed off of and the second one is by breeders. When conditions are right, they can be VERY prolific breeders.
