Ok, so my snow finally laid her first egg ever!! When I went into the reptile room, it was stuck on the paper towel. When I took it out it was fairly hard. It has been in the incubator for a day now and now it is kinda soft. Wanted to know why this might be, what I can do to fix it, and if it is just a dud?? Thanks in advance!! = )

To me it looks like a dud.Incubate it until it goes furry or smells.

What makes this look like a dud? New to this and want to know what specifically to look for in the eggs other then softening of the shell instead of getting harder.

Looks like a dud, as said before. But still incubate until it is for sure. Healthy fertile eggs are usually a very stark white and become very firm within the first couple of days. You can candle them and if fertile, they should reveal a "bullseye" which is a red spot somewhere inside the egg. This is the embryo attaching to the egg. From there red blood veins should start sprouting within the egg. If the egg is infertile it will glow yellow & generally the outside of the egg with harbor a yellowish tint as well.
