lol once again this is probably a stupid question. but I'm new to this stuff.

I've been feeding my white spotted gecko crickets as a main diet (with the occasional mealworm here and there). But I was told I should be cal. dusting his food....I've seen the product at the stores (in several different forms) and I dont know which I should give to him, or if I should give it to him at all...

can some one help me out here? :main_robin: :D

thanks.

Yes, though I'm no expert on geckos, I would definitely recommend using calcium once a week as well as vitamins once a month or so. Calcium is essential to a gecko's diet so they don't get things like Metabolic Bone Disease.
as for brands, I use rep-cal, which you can most likely get at your local pet store. ^^

Hmm, usually what you would do is put the worms and a bit of powder in a bag, then shake it up a bit until they're lightly dusted =3

Also, a bit of calcium should be available at all times for the gecko in a little dish.
If it's the same for spotted geckos as leos xD

We use "Herp-Care Cricket Dust". It seems to get the best response out of our leos! Also, we dust during every feeding (everyother day), and leave a Calcium dish (full of the same stuff) in there for them to lick. This sounds wierd, but they really do lick it straight out of the bowl! Oh, and also, we leave a bowl of mealworms, as well as a water dish in there for them at all times. Good Luck with your Leo!!

Yes, they will lick it directly from the bowl. In the wild they have learned to lick the ground when they need calcium, and in captivity their ground usually doesn't have a whole lot of anything to lick up :) Also, make sure that the calcium you leave in the cage is without D3, as too much (or too little) D3 can be harmful. I found that leaving non-D3 calium in the cage and dusting every other feeding with calcium w/d3 didn't give me any problems.
