Earth Worms or Blood Worms as Feeders

I just read something about Earth Worms or Blood Worms as feeders and I do not know if I would feed them to my Leos.

We give our Leos a variety of insects for the nutrion.

We gutload these insects.

However, we trust that these are free of Parasites.

Earth Worms or Blood Worms may contain parasites that can infect our Leos.

I have to ask some other members about this but, at this moment, I would not feed Leos these kind of worms.:main_thumbsdown:

I would NEVER Feed my Geckos Nightcrawlers, or anything of the sort. Like you said the Risk of parasites is way too high for my taste. Personally I`ve never read a care sheet that has recommended Earthworms or anything of the sort for Leopard Geckos.

We use bloodworms for what's in our little aquarium, I wouldn't recommend them for leos at all.

I would stick with the community as a whole on this one. Stick to what we know works best, gut loaded crickets, meal worms, wax worms, etc. Please don't conduct any experiments on your Leo(s). If you're wrong your Leo(s) will pay with their life/lives.

earthworms and night crawlers

if you can get them captive produced and clean and healthy they can make womderful gecko feeders. one of our clients feeds her leos worms and has for years with excellent results. They are loaded with protein and calciumand also easy to raise. of course not everything will eat them however it is fun to watch. Like a baby sucking down a foot long piece of pasta. Remember to use only captive produced from clean organic sources. I will see if She will let me post the pictures of her geckos chowing down. If she still has the pictures. Do not use the blood worms aka tubifex or black worms used for fish.
